Sports Enthusiasts are needed on behalf of Special Olympics Florida and PE4life for the 2013 Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games, part of the annual Sports Enthusiasts Calendar. Eunice Kennedy Shriver organized the first international Special Olympics Games at Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois in 1968. This event will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex..
Special Olympics Florida is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. Sports Enthusiasts for the 2013 Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games must be at least 15 years of age. Sports Enthusiasts under 18 years of age must have parental/guardian consent. Remember that children under the eligible age cannot accompany you. You will be told on the event day that your services cannot be utilized. This is for the safety of your child and everyone else involved.

Sports Enthusiasts will receive confirmation of the shifts for which they have been scheduled. Confirmations will be mailed approximately 30 days prior to the event or emailed after that and will include further information on times, parking location, and other details.

Sports Enthusiast shifts and activities will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Although every effort will be made to accommodate your selection, the scheduling office reserves the right to schedule volunteers based on event needs, which includes placing volunteers on a waiting list. You will receive a confirmation packet closer to the event. Please refrain from requesting schedule changes until you receive your confirmation. Schedules are subject to change.
As a Sports Enthusiast for the 2013 Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games, you will receive one commemorative t-shirt for the event (sizes are not guaranteed) and one snack per shift (snacks are provided at the start of your shift. If you have special dietary needs, please plan accordingly.) Volunteer for any of the events included in the Annual Sports Enthusiasts Calendar, and you will receive one point for each hour of service completed. For every sixteen (16) points accumulated, you will receive a complimentary Walt Disney World® One Day One Park theme park ticket. This ticket entitles you to one visit to any of the following Walt Disney World® Theme Parks: Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney's Hollywood Studios, or Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Tickets will be mailed within sixty (60) days.
Note that there are separate waivers for adults and minors. Anyone age 18 or older must complete an adult waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or court appointed guardian complete a waiver for a minor.
