EVENT BENEFICIARY

This event benefits Special Olympics New York. Their mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, the Special Olympics program gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills.. Help us continue to support Special Olympics New York by volunteering as a Sports Enthusiast.

REGISTER

Volunteer Registration will open a few months prior to the event.

ELIGIBILITY

Sports Enthusiasts must be at least 15 years of age to volunteer. Sports Enthusiasts under the age of 15 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Remember that children under the eligible age are not allowed to volunteer or accompany you. You will be told on the event day that your services cannot be utilized if you have children younger than the eligible age with you. This is for the safety of your child and everyone else involved. Sports Enthusiasts under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver prior to the event. CONFIRMATION

Sports Enthusiasts will receive confirmation of the shifts for which they have been scheduled. Confirmations will be mailed approximately 30 days prior to the event or emailed after that time. Confirmation will include further information on parking, directions, and other useful information.

SCHEDULE

Sports Enthusiast shifts and activities will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Although every effort will be made to accommodate your selection, the scheduling office reserves the right to schedule volunteers based on event needs, which includes placing volunteers on a waiting list. You will receive a confirmation packet closer to the event. Please refrain from requesting schedule changes until you receive your confirmation. Schedules are subject to change.

WAIVER

Note that there are separate waivers for adults and minors. Anyone age 18 or older must complete an adult waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or court appointed guardian complete a waiver for a minor.

APPRECIATION

As a Sports Enthusiast for the 2013 MAAC Women's Soccer Championships, you will receive one commemorative piece of apparel for the event (sizes are not guaranteed) and one snack per shift (snacks are typically provided at the start of your shift. If you have special dietary needs, please plan accordingly). Volunteer for any of the events included in the Annual Sports Enthusiasts Calendar, and you will receive one point for each hour of service completed. For every sixteen (16) points accumulated, you will receive a complimentary Walt Disney World® One Day One Park theme park ticket. This ticket entitles you to one visit to any of the following Walt Disney World® Theme Parks: Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney's Hollywood Studios, or Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Tickets will be mailed within sixty (60) days.
